Dowling Fire and Hazard Control
was founded in 2019 by Billy Dowling, he is a Career Firefighter who has worked in Fort McMurray for past seven years.
He now calls Calgary home. While working in Fort McMurray as a firefighter he received a provincial award for this efforts during the 2016 Horseriver Wildfire, dubbed “The Beast”, he experience firsthand the devastating impacts of interface fires (where forest fires meet structures) on a community.
From here, he realized there was a need not only for hazard recognition, but for a company that provides mitigation services before fires start, and during evacuations.
Dowling then went forward to become a National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist (C.W.M.S.). With this certification, and his first hand experience, he has developed a comprehensive approach to properly assessing homes for wildfire risk and performing the necessary mitigation techniques.
